Deepak Chandra Misra has made extraordinary contributions in the promotion and application of e-Governance in rural development agencies throughout India. He has played a very important role in formulating IT induction/adoption policy for computerisation in rural development processes and improving Internet connectivity. He pushed for rural communication connectivity through NICNET, a satellite-based nationwide computer-communication network. He has played a very significant role in policy formulation on the National Land Record Modernisation Programme. He has been responsible for generating e-Governance awareness among the officials of the ministry of rural development, Ministry of Panchayati Raj and its various formations across the country.
