He has made it a mission to provide sustainable solutions to deal with water challenges. Water conservation along with water-harvesting, judicious and multiple use of water have been close to G Asok Kumar’s heart. He believes in the power of communication and has created a series called “Water Talks” to create greater awareness about water challenges. He is also leading the Jal Jeevan Mission. His contributions to the aviation sector have been exemplary, notable being to set-up the Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau that catalysed revival of the ailing airline industry. In his earlier role in the state, Kumar played an important role in timely completion of several infrastructure projects in Telangana and earlier in the combined Andhra Pradesh. He initiated and completed many infrastructure projects like Outer Ring Road, Krishna Phase-2 Drinking Water Pipeline and Godavari Drinking Water Pipeline Project that fed many a dry areas.

Additional Secretary & Mission Director National Water Mission

G. Asok Kumar is currently working as Additional Secretary and Mission Director at National Water Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.

A 1991 batch IAS officer belonging to the Telangana Cadre, G. Asok Kumar, had earlier served at the Centre as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation where he set-up the Aircraft Accidents Investigation Bureau and played a keyrole in reviving the then ailing airline industry.  A winner of Telangana Excellence Award in 2018 and Jalmitra Award in 2002, he has initiated/completed many infrastructure projects like the Outer Ring Road, Krishna Phase-2 Drinking Water Pipeline, Godavari Drinking Water Pipeline Project, etc. in Hyderabad.

As Principal Secretary BC Welfare Dept., he was instrumental in starting 119 English Medium Residential Schools in all the Assembly segments on 12th June 2017. He has also worked in the sectors of Power, Medical and Health, Urban Planning, Urban Water, Information Technology, Education, Tribal Welfare and Sports.
