The Department of Handlooms and Textiles launched Chenetha Mitra Scheme towards improving wages for weaver artisans. Under the scheme, the artisans are provided 40 per cent input subsidy linked to wage compensation. To provide better wages to weaver artisans without compromising on manufacturing margin and making them competitive in the market, the scheme envisages improving the livelihood of all weavers. So far, more than 75,000 weavers have benefitted from the scheme.

The state under its Telangana Textile and Apparel Policy (T-TAP) is attracting investments and generating employment in the sector. Incentives include capital and operational assistance, infra support and capacity-building support from Fibre to Fabric; entrepreneurs can file their incentive claim applications online in a paperless mode under single window approval. T-TAP is linked to TS-iPASS to avoid duplication of incentive claims. The department is targeting to create up to 10,000 jobs per annum.
